A Little About Ms. Laura ThompsonMs. Laura Thompson's Teacher Web Page
1. What do you like about teaching at St. Alexander?
I am very honored to be asked to teach at Saint Alexander, a blue ribbon school. Each of us was called by God for "good works." At this time in my life, God has called me here. My goal as an educator is to nurture my students in a love of creativity and discovery that continues for a lifetime of learning... what those good works are and who each of them is called to be "in God's eyes."
2. Why have you chosen to teach in the Catholic Schools?
I have chosen to work in Catholic schools because I want to help each student develop a firm foundation in the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. I believe our Catholic schools are as much a place of education as they are places of (faith) formation.
3. Favorite teaching moment?
My favorite teaching moments are those epiphany moments when the light bulb appears... the student's expression shows a new, deeper understanding of the concept we are learning in class.
4. When did you know that you wanted to be a teacher?
I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was able to help other graduate students (in Business Administration) understand the case studies we were reviewing.
