A Little About Mrs. Jamie Nowinski

Mrs. Jamie Nowinski's Teacher Web Page

1. What do you like about teaching at St. Alexander?

St. Alexander is a great place to teach. I believe in the high standards that are instituted throughout the school. My co-workers are helpful, supportive, and of the finest caliber. As a faculty we work toward the same goals: giving each student the finest education that is within our reach.

2. Why have you chosen to teach in the Catholic Schools?

I choose to teach in a Catholic school because it is my desire to prepare students to become adults who are responsible, morally sound, and intelligent individuals. Spiritual growth doesn’t just happen in religion or at church; it is a daily event. I desire to be an influence to that process in my students.

3. Favorite teaching moment?

“Mrs. Nowinski, this is the first time I have ever read an entire book and liked it!” These words, said by a former student, were a symphony to my ears. So often as a teacher, I am never sure of the impact I’ve made on my students’ learning. It is a satisfying feeling to know that something I taught or said really had a powerful effect on a student.

4. When did you know that you wanted to be a teacher?

I knew I wanted to teach when I was a little girl and played school with my sister. I insisted that I always be the teacher and she the student. It worked, because I was older, and she had no choice but to let me. But, it wasn’t until I became a Girl Scout leader, that my true calling was realized. That satisfying experience inspired me to earn my degree, and challenged me to discover the teacher.
