1. What do you like about teaching at St. Alexander?
I enjoy teaching the young children at St. Alexander’s. Every day brings something new and exciting. We learn and share our everyday experiences with one another. The children and the faculty truly fit together into a school family. This school family is a team I am very proud to be a part of.
2. Why have you chosen to teach in the Catholic Schools?
I have chosen St. Alexander School because our learning experiences can go hand in hand with Jesus as our role model. I believe our faith is part of who we are. Each child will go away not only with academic growth but also with the religious values and beliefs to be “the best they can be.” Through Jesus, each student will be given the guidance to make positive decisions in their life.
3. Favorite teaching moment?
I really can’t pin point one moment in particular. Every day when I teach the excitement and enthusiasm that the children share is a true enjoyment. Watching their eyes light up because they finally understand a particular lesson, or to experience the silence and stare when a story is read to them are some of my favorite moments. I don’t think a day goes by where there isn’t an experience or memory to cherish. Thank God for little children!
4. When did you know that you wanted to be a teacher?
I have always worked with children. From babysitting when I was a teenager, holiday and specialty class instructor, park district counselor, preschool and daycare worker, to being a teacher’s aide. All these jobs led me to follow through with my education and pursue my teaching dream!
